Grant’s Double-Double Not Enough as CCNY Eludes Women’s Basketball

Kylie Grant posted 31 points and 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season

NEW YORK – Despite a 31-point, 10-rebound double-double from Kylie Grant, the Pratt Institute women's basketball team suffered a 56-50 defeat to the City College of New York on Thursday evening.

Grant recorded her third double-double of the season finishing shooting 13-of-32 from the field. Kinako Miyake scored 11 points and pulled down seven boards.

CCNY (1-3) was led by Monae Long with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Kasia Morrison had 15 points and Joscelyn Ramos chipped in 12.

Behind Grant's 12 first-half points, Pratt built a lead that grew to as many as 14 points midway through the second quarter and carried a 24-14 lead into the lockers.

CCNY came out of the lockers on a 14-2 run to take their first lead and led 38-35 headed into the fourth quarter. The Cannoneers shrank the deficit to two early in the period and pulled within one possession with 47 seconds left, 52-49, after a Grant three-point play, but couldn't overtake the hosts.

Pratt (0-5) shot a season-high .328 (21-of-64) in defeat. The six-point margin of defeat is the lowest of the season.

Pratt travels north to Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. on Sunday, November 20 for a 1 p.m. showdown with Bard College.
