BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Sophomore Kylie Grant poured in a game-high 30 points but the Pratt Institute women's basketball team fell on the wrong end of a 85-55 decision against Sarah Lawrence College on Thursday evening at the Activity Resource Center.
Grant fell one point shy of matching her season- and career-high and she grabbed eight boards with a trio of assists and steals. Senior Kinako Miyake also fell one shy of matching her career best set yesterday evening and she also secured three rebounds and handed out a steal.
Sophomore Rohama Tewodros reached double-figure rebounds for the first time her her career pulling down two and chipped in four points.
Kumi Tamura had 23 points to lead Sarah Lawrence (3-5) and Kendall Haymore added a 20-point, 13-rebound double-double.
Pratt (0-10) opened the contest with a 2-0 lead after Kinako hit a pair of administrative technical free throws, but the visitors scored the next 10 points. The Cannoneers fought their way back the rest of the period with Grant scoring nine points to shrink the deficit to two, 15-13.
Grant and Miyake combined for a six straight points midway through the second stanza to level the game at 19-all but after drawing even failed to convert on another field goal the rest of the half and faced a 35-20 deficit at halftime.
Pratt improved to 42 percent shooting (13-of-31) in the second half but still couldn't cut into the Gryphons lead.
The Cannoneers head back on the road for the final two games of the semester and travel to Baruch College on Tuesday, December 6 with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
