Men's Basketball to Play UC Santa Cruz in 1st Round of C2C Tournament

BROOKLYN, NY - The Pratt Institute's men's basketball team will take on UC Santa Cruz in the first round of the Coast-To-Coast (C2C) Conference Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia.

The Cannoneers are the 5th seed in the tournament and UC Santa Cruz is the 4th seed.  The winner of the game will take on the number one seed Christopher Newport on Friday.  The Championship game will take place on Saturday afternoon with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

This will mark the first time the two schools have met and will also be Pratt's first ever trip to the C2C Tournament.

Head Coach Chris Thompson is looking forward to the conference tournament.  "We are really excited for the opportunity to compete in the Coast-to-Coast Championships this week.  Our group has worked really hard, and played an extremely competitive schedule to prepare for this opportunity to play with teams in the national eye.  We expect to compete at a high level, and display that our style of basketball can compete on the conference stage.

Pratt finished the regular season with a dominating victory over Vaughn College, 101-59 on Saturday afternoon.  The Cannoneers will look to ride the momentum into Thursday's game.

UC Santa Cruz finished the regular season with a 5-17 record and ended the regular season on a two-game win streak.

Despite the challenge ahead, Thompson is excited for the moment. "Getting to travel to Virginia for the Championships will become a lens for what we expect to continue to build as we create momentum within our program.  Trips like these are where teammates build camaraderie and create memories.  Ultimately, these instances are what our group will remember from their experience at Pratt, and competing at a high level will enhance these moments."
