STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Competing for the first time in 2023, the Pratt Institute men's and women's indoor track and field teams had a strong showing setting two program records at the MLK Tribute Invitational on Monday, hosted by St. John's University at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
For the women, Christina Sancho-Spore ran a school record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31.75, finishing in sixth overall–only Division I runners ahead of her.Â
On the men's side, First-year Ian Chen broke the school record in the 300 meters posting a time of 43.01. Sophomore Thomas Perrone ran the second-best time in program history in the 400 meters in 54.73. Bruce Westgate secured the team's best finish of the meet, covering the mile with a personal record of 4:46.57, good for fourth out of 14 and tops among non-Division I runners.
Pratt returns to the track on Friday, February 3rd for the NYC DIII Invitational, hosted by NYU, at The Armory.
