QUEENS, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute men's track and field team put on a stellar performance while hosting the Cannoneer Duals and Pratt Invitational on Saturday morning at the Queens College Track. The Cannoneers captured two event victories and saw several top-three finishes in their home meet.
Graduate student Anthony Cowell (Boulder, Colo.) was dominant securing a pair of first-place finishes. He started the day by winning the 400-meter dash in the Cannoneer Duals with a time of 57.21 before showcasing his endurance to win the 3000-meter run in the Invitational, crossing the line in 10:25.79 in his event debut.
First-year Jackson Brock (Vicenza, Italy) also had a career day for the gold-and-black, earning two top-three placements. He took second place in the 800-meter run with a new personal-record time of 2:27.80. He followed that performance with a third-place finish in the 3000 meters, clocking in at 11:03.04.
The meet marked a successful collegiate debut for sophomore Mohit Kariea (Pune, India). The newcomer demonstrated his versatility, competing in both sprints and field events. He placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (24.95) and earned a third-place finish in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.68 meters (5' 6").
Pratt returns to the track next weekend for the Vassar Spring Invite on Saturday, April 25 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
