BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Pratt Institute men's basketball team combined to shoot 43 percent and surrendered their third-lowest point total of the season, but Coast-to-Coast Conference foe University of Mary Washington used a strong second half to pull away for a 65-45 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Activity Resource Center.
Pratt (5-14) had a balanced offense with a quartet of Cannoneers scoring eight points each – Cameron Hatcher, Daniel Golub, Ace Bibbs, and Sebastion Roda. Golub also grabbed a team-high eight boards, Bibbs secured three caroms and swiped four steals. Aaron Nisbett and Lucas Zamboni chipped in five points each. Reigning two-time C2C Player of the Week and leading scorer Patrick O'Gorman was inactive due to injury.
UMW's (13-4) Dashawn Cook led all scorers with 17 points. Zack Blue and Cameron McCravy chipped in four points each. The Eagles shot 45 percent and combined for 18 assists on 25 made baskets.
Pratt trailed by as many as 12 in the first half before gaining some momentum just before the half, powered by a poster dunk by Bibbs, and the black-and-gold trailed 29-21 at the half.
The Eagles used an 11-0 run over three minutes to build a 42-25 lead and distanced themselves for good. Roda scored all eight of his points in the second half, but it wasn't enough to lead a second-half charge as the visitors connected at an efficient 55 percent clip.
Pratt continues a three-game home stand on Wednesday, January 25, welcoming Mitchell College for a 6 p.m. tilt at the ARC.
