BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Pratt Institute women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought, five-set battle (25-21, 22-25, 25-15, 21-25, 15-9) with St. Joseph's University (Long Island) on Saturday afternoon at the Activities Resource Center.
Pratt saw their winning streak halted at three games and dropped to 8-9 while St. Joseph's improved to 13-7.
Olivia Julich led the Cannoneers putting away a career-high 18 kills to go along with 14 digs. Emily Sontag posted eight kills with four aces and brought up a career-best 20 digs. Josie Johnson also chipped in eight kills to go along with 15 digs.
Emma Leavey had a match- and career-high 26 digs to anchor the defense. Gabby Genduso directed the offense with 31 assists while serving up six aces.
The back-and-forth affair that featured 21 ties and 11 lead changes saw the Golden Eagles take the first and third sets with the Cannoneers responding to take the second and fourth sets.
In the fifth set, St. Joseph's raced out to a 5-1 lead, but Pratt stormed back to level the deciding stanza at 7-all, but the visitors pulled away again after the side change and closed out the match on an 8-2 run.
Pratt heads to Manhattan to face Hunter College on Thursday, October 26 starting at 6 p.m.
