NEW YORK – Olivia Julich put away 10 kills and Emily Sontag added seven but the Pratt Institute women's volleyball fell in straight sets to Hunter College on Thursday evening on the road to fall to 8-10 on the season.
Julich hit .267 and added eight digs, two blocks and an ace. Sontag finished with an efficient .417 hitting percentage with a trio of digs and a block. Josie Johnson chipped in four kills, three aces and a dig. Colleen Russell contributed two kills and four blocks. Gabby Genduso dished out 17 assists and served three aces.
The opening two sets saw both teams still deadlocked at the 10-all mark before Hunter (19-7) began to distance themselves. The Cannoneers managed a late rally in set two and pulled within two at 22-20, but couldn't level the match. The Hawks raced out to an early lead in the third set and never trailed again.
Pratt has a day off before traveling to Bronxville, N.Y. to face Sarah Lawrence College on Saturday, October 28 starting at 1 p.m.
