NEW YORK – The Pratt Institute men's soccer team suffered a close 1-0 defeat to SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday evening at Randall's Island.
Pratt (0-5-1) held a 14-8 edge in shots and a 4-1 advantage in corners in the losing effort. The Cannoneers had the better of the opportunities during a scoreless opening 45 and outshot the Fighting Tigers, 8-3, with several shots just missing their target.
Cobleskill (3-5-1) scored the game's lone goal early into the second stanza as Derek Streeter found a streaking Conor Flanigan in the 49th minute.
While the gold-and-black searched for the equalizer throughout the period, Cobleskill did well to limit the Cannoneer chances.
Griffin Benkovszky finished with a game-high five shots while Theo Goldman and Morvens Regis registered two shots each. Carter Tillman made one save in goal in a no-decision.
Pratt faces borough foes Medgar Evers College on Monday, October 9 in a 1 p.m. showdown from Aviator Field.
