Women’s Volleyball Prevails Over Yeshiva in Dig Pink Game

The Cannoneers swept the Maccabees for their second straight win to improve to 10-10

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Josie Johnson and Olivia Julich combined for 25 kills and .326 hitting to lead the Pratt Institute women's volleyball team to a straight-set victory over Yeshiva University (25-12, 25-14, 25-15) on Tuesday evening at the Activities Resource Center. The win is the Cannoneers second straight as they improve to 10-10 and back to level .500.

Johnson led all attackers with 13 kills on .304 hitting to go along with a pair of aces and seven digs. Named Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week yesterday, Julich slammed 12 kills at a .346 clip and matched her career-high of six aces. Both individually landed more kills than Yeshiva as a team.

Colleen Russell added six error-free kills for a .462 hitting night and stuffed two blocks. Emily Sontag chipped in five kills and Zeynep Akgol added three kills.

Gabby Genduso handed out 21 assists while Hannah Leitten dished out 13 as the team hit .295 on the evening.

Pratt remained in control through the majority of the match. The Cannoneers faced their largest deficit in the second stanza at 3-6 before rattling off eight straight with Julich powering the run with five aces.

Joining the nationwide Dig Pink initiative, the Cannoneers have raised over $1500 benefitting the Side-Out Foundation supporting advanced breast cancer research, programs and patient support services.
