PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Pratt Institute women's tennis team preserved their unblemished record with secured a 5-4 road win over St. Joseph's University (Long Island) on Sunday afternoon at the Outdoor Field Complex.
Pratt (5-0) trailed 2-1 after the doubles session with Pallavi Verghese and Beatrice Crespo teaming up for the lone point with an 8-1 triumph in the lead doubles match.
The Cannoneers then posted the next four points winning the top four singles matches to clinch the victory. Pallavi and Crespo both were undefeated on the day with Pallavi winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Crespo prevailing 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot.
Julia Ognibene secured a 6-1, 6-3 triumph in the No. 4 spot and Srishti Agarwal delivered the deciding point in the No. 3 match winning 7-5, 6-3.
Pratt returns to the court hosting future Atlantic East Conference rival Marywood University in a dual match alongside the men at the USTA National Tennis Center on Saturday, October 14 starting at noon.
