CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – Sophomore Kylie Grant recorded her 12th double-double of the season and the Pratt Institute women's basketball team hung tough in the first half before dropping the opening game of a doubleheader against Cazenovia College, 75-40, on Sunday afternoon at the Schneeweiss Athletic Complex.
Pratt (1-21) fought hard in the opening two quarters, never letting the opposition lead by more than 10 points, and trailed 33-23 at intermission.
Grant finished with 16 points and 16 rebounds and went 6-for-8 at the free-throw line to record her 22nd straight-game scoring double digits. Assisting her, Victoria Liu scored a career-high 12 points and matcher her career-best with four three-point bombs. Senior Kinako Miyake also had 10 points and Rohama Tewodros recovered 10 rebounds.
For the Wildcats (4-21), Bailey Bennet scored 18 points and six rebounds, while Alvia Turk (13 pts, 11 reb) and Mackenzie Bennet (15 pts, 15 reb) recorded double-doubles of their own.
With 7:05 to play, Turk subbed in and played a pivotal role in helping the Wildcats close out the game, scoring seven points and collecting three rebounds within the next three minutes.
The black-and-gold return to the ARC floor to close out their 2022-23 campaign and host the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Wednesday, February 15 with a 7 p.m. tip-off.
