BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Pratt Institute men's volleyball team put forth a spirited effort at home facing the College of Mount Saint Vincent for the second straight night but dropped a straight-set decision (25-20, 28-26, 25-10) on Friday evening at the Activity Resource Center.
Six different Cannoneers combined for 13 kills after being held to just four in total the night before. Brooks Reid and Eli Toker led Pratt (0-5) with four kills each and Max Wang chipped in two kills and a block. Devaun Longley added a kill, block and an ace.
CMSV (2-1) was led by Samuel Martinez eight kills and two blocks with Kevin Erhand and Terence Strehle contributing seven kills apiece.
Pratt (0-5) pushed Mount Saint Vincent in sets one and two as the contest saw 18 ties and 10 lead changes over the first two frames. The Cannoneers nearly leveled the match in the second stanza earning a set point at 24-23 and wiping out two ensuing Dolphin set points before falling in extra points, 28-26.
Pratt meets borough rivals Brooklyn College for the second time this season in a road matchup on Tuesday, February 7 starting at 7 p.m.
