AMHERST, Mass. – The Pratt Institute men's basketball team fell to Amherst College, 87-44, on Monday evening. Junior Ace Bibbs led the Cannoneers with 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
First-year Lucas Zamboni joined Bibbs in double-figure scoring with 11 points and four rebounds. Sophomore Cameron Hatcher chipped in nine points and seven boards.
Amherst (9-13) was paced by Will Scherer's 12-point, 11-rebound double-double. Noah Helmke and Beluolisah Oranye contributed 14 and 12 points off the bench, respectively.
The Cannoneers hung tough with the Mammoths through most of the first and trailed by only four, 24-20, on a Bibbs trifecta with 5:45 before intermission, but the hosts closed out the half on an 18-0 run and remained in control the rest of the way.
Pratt (5-17) returns home to the ARC to host Western New England University on Thursday, February 9 for a 6 p.m. tip.
