BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Despite a match-high tying 10 kills from Jason Raymond, the Pratt Institute men's volleyball team dropped a straight-set decision to Saint Elizabeth University to open their Colonial States Athletic Conference slate on Saturday afternoon at the Activity Resource Center.
Raymond assembled his fifth match of the season with double-digit kill and hit .190 also brining up four digs. All eight Cannonneers to see the floor registered a kill with Owen Hinrichs, Brooks Reid and Max Wang landing two each. Reid handed out 16 assists and had a match-high six digs.
Saint Elizabeth (7-5, 1-0 CSAC) was led by Kodi Peters 10 kills on .529 hitting. Charles Pampliega distributed 17 assists and Diego Rondon handed out 11 as the Eagles hit .409 for the match.
Pratt (2-10, 0-1) came alive in the third stanza with neither team leading by more than three until the visitors crept out to a 19-15 advantage. The gold-and-black rallied with four straight powered by back-to-back aces from Wallace Hallot to level the set at 19-all. But the Eagles would close out the match taking six of the final seven points.
Pratt returns to the court on Wednesday, March 15 traveling to Bryn Athyn College for a CSAC match starting at 7 p.m.
