BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Pratt Institute men's tennis team collected their second straight 8-1 triumph to open the spring season defeating Sarah Lawrence College on Sunday afternoon on the road.
Pratt (3-1) swept all three doubles matches. Mehul Bhargava and Ryan Nelsen won in the lead match, 8-4. Caleb Callahan and Brian Duval won at love at No. 2, 8-0. Cole Rudy and Matthew Stachura teamed up for an 8-2 win in the No. 3 position.
Johnny Xie dropped just one game at No. 5 to post the first singles point, 6-1, 6-0. Stachura won at love in the No. 6 flight to clinch the overall victory.
Nelsen was victorious in the No. 2 match, 6-2, 6-1, and Callahan won 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 3 spot.
Rudy was tested in the final match of the day at No. 4 but held off his opponent in a tiebreaker, 6-1, 7-6 (5).
Pratt travels to Patchogue, N.Y. to face St. Joseph's University (L.I.) on Tuesday, March 28 at 5 p.m.
