FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Pratt Institute men's and women's track and field teams opened their outdoor season at the Queens College Season Opener on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
Thomas Perrone led the men with a pair of event wins taking the 800 meter in 2:08.75 and the 1,500 meter in 4:31.67. Bruce Westgate finished behind Perrone in second place in the 1,500 meter with a time of 4:37.42 and also took sixth in the 800 meter clocking in at 2:21.10. Dominic Paolini had a ninth-place finish in the 1,500 meter in 4:55.40. Devin Dzierba recorded a 10th place in the long jump with a 4.66-meter leap.
Siena Sujitno and Courtney Beesch each took home wins for the women. Sujitno won the 100 meter dash in 13:61 and Beesch captured the 3,000 meter run in 12:04.90.Â
The women had a collection of strong performances with Christina Sancho-Spore taking second in the 800 meter in 2:39.29 followed by Sarah Cawley sixth-place time of 2:53.37. Ava Hunwick (1:13.61) and Alexis O'Rourke (1:16.39) finished in third and fourth in the 400 meter. Kayla Galvan nabbed fourth place in the 200 meter in 29.20.
Pratt hits the track on Saturday, April 1 at The Big Hurt hosted by St. John's University.
