BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Jason Raymond posted double-figure kills for the fourth time this season, Brooks Reid dished out 20-plus assists for the fourth time and the Pratt Institute men's volleyball team cruised to a straight-set victory (25-12, 25-18, 25-14) over SUNY College at Old Westbury on Wednesday evening at the Activity Resource Center.
Raymond put down 12 kills on a .375 hitting effort and led the defense with eight digs. Reid paired his 20 assists with five kills, two digs and two blocks. Max Wang added five kills while hitting .400. Devaun Longley chipped in three kills and served up a match-high four aces with six digs.
The Cannoneers (2-9) dominated from the service line holding a 14-0 edge in aces with seven different players landing an ace.
Pratt never trailed in the first two sets racing out to nearly identical 15-9 and 15-8 leads and remained in control the entire way. The Panthers won the opening point of set three for their lone lead before five ties and a 5-0 Cannoneer run opened up another 15-9 lead.
Old Westbury (0-10) was paced by six kills and .625 hiting from James Seraphin. Kevin Villada added five kills.
Pratt returns to the ARC floor on Saturday, March 11 to host Saint Elizabeth University for a noon tilt.
