FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Pratt Institute men's and women's track and field teams honored five seniors at the conclusion of their first home meet on Saturday morning at the Queens College track. The Cannoneers won eight events and competing in a double dual format the women swept City College of New York (53-37) and Queens College (52-36) while the men split defeating CCNY (42-38) and falling to Queens (55-28).
Siena Sujitno was the top performer for the women winning the 100-meter dash (12.91) and 200-meter dash (27.96) – both season bests – and helped the 4x100 to a second-place finish in 56.69.
Thomas Perrone, Bruce Westgate and Dominic Paolini each claimed event wins for the men. Paolini took the opening 3000-meter run in 10:33.36. Perrone won the 800-meter in 2:04.24.Â
Westgate topped the 1500-meter run in 4:49.73 as the Canoneers took the top three spots in the event followed by Daniel Bhopaul (5:02.22) and David Valentine (5:34.25).
Christina Sancho-Spore claimed the women's 1500-meter in a season-best 5:09.05. Sarah Cawley bested the 800-meter run in 2:43.40.
Alexis O'Rourke nabbed second in the women's 100-meter (14.16) and a third in the 200-meter (29.44). Ava Hunwick contributed a second in the 400-meter (1:08.77) and fourth-place points in the 200-meter (30.00).
The teams head to Fredericksburg, Virginia in two weeks to compete in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships on May 6-7.
