SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. – After a 1-1 deadlock at halftime, Alfred State College scored a trio of second-half goals to hand the Pratt Institute a 4-1 defeat on Saturday afternoon at the All-Season Sports Academy.
The visiting Pioneers (4-1) drew first blood on a John Price goal in the 10th minute but Griffin Benkovszky provided the response for the Cannoneers (0-5) less than four minutes later. The sophomore scored his second of the season off a feed from Diego Pina.
After Alfred State led the first half 7-2 in shots, the field tilted in their favor in the second half and they maintained a 16-1 edge scoring the go-ahead goal seven minutes into the second half and tacking on insurance goals in the 75th and 83rd minutes.
Anil Pugh and Dimitris Papagiannakopoulos combined for seven saves in defeat.
Pratt travels to borough foes Brooklyn College on Wednesday, September 20 kicking off at 4 p.m.
