BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Pratt Institute women's tennis team shut out Sarah Lawrence College, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon to remain undefeated on the season.
First-years Pallavi Verghese and Beatrice Crespo maintained their unblemished singles and doubles records atop the Cannoneer (3-0) lineup. They teamed up for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles and Pallavi dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while Crespo surrendered her first games at singles this season while cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 triumph in the No. 2 position.
Srishti Agarwal and Ariana Castro paired up for an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles and Agarwal prevailed 8-2 at No. 3 singles for her first singles win of the season and Castro rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
Nastazja Cancellaro and Julia Ognibene combined for a 8-1 triumph at No. 3 doubles before Cancellaro bypassed her opponent at No. 5 singles, 8-3, and Ognibene won at No. 6 singles, 8-1.
Pratt heads to the ITA Regional Championship hosted by Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y. this upcoming weekend.
