PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – Patrick O'Gorman and Cameron Windt combined for 30 points as the Pratt Institute men's basketball team opened the new year with an 87-61 road defeat to St. Joseph's University (Long Island) on Friday evening at the Danzi Center.
O'Gorman shared game-high honors with 18 points, also pulling down four rebounds and dishing out a pair of assists. Windt netted 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting to go along with a pair of boards and a pair of assists. Justin Caver added eight points and Thomas Van Trier chipped in seven.
Pratt (6-7) was slow out of the gate in their first game of the new year shooting just 33 percent (9-of-27) in the first half and was never able to gain the lead. After improving to a 42 percent (13-of-31) connect rate in the second stanza, the Golden Eagles boosted their connect rate to 62 percent (18-of-29) and finished shooting 53 percent (35-of-66) for the contest with 15 made three-pointers to eight for the Cannoneers.
St. Joseph's (7-6) placed four players in double figures, led by Xavier Allen's 18-point, 14-rebound double-double and Terrin Roy also scored 18 points.
Pratt will look to return to the .500 mark and notch their first win of 2024 on Monday, January 8 traveling to the Bronx to face Lehman College for a 7 p.m. showdown.
