IMMACULATA, Pa. — The Pratt Institute women's volleyball team notched their first Atlantic East Conference victory, defeating Immaculata University in straight sets, 25-18, 25-15, 25-19, on Saturday afternoon. The Cannoneers fell to Neumann University in straight sets, 25-11, 25-9, 25-18, in the second half of their tri-match.
In the opener, Pratt was led by Kelsy Padilla's near double-double of nine kills and nine digs on .250 hitting with two aces. Colleen Russell and Natalie Dziadzio both landed five kills each on an efficient hitting night, Dziadzio hitting .400 and Russell hitting .308.
Emily Sontag handed out 23 assists while serving up four aces. Emma Leavey brought up 10 digs and served three aces.
Immaculata finished with a 27-26 edge in kills, but Pratt had a 13-2 advantage in service aces. The black-and-gold never trailed later than the 12-point mark of any set.
In match two, six different Cannoneers logged a kill, led by Padilla and Russell who logged three kills apiece, but Neumann (9-14, 3-1) had two Knights finish with double-digit kills and hit .371l Sontag dished out 12 assists and served up three aces.
Pratt (6-13, 1-2) returns home and celebrates Senior Night hosting Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday, October 30. First serve at the ARC is at 7 p.m.
