BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute women's volleyball team honored seniors Emma Leavey and Natalie Dziadzio on Senior Night as they welcomed Gwynedd Mercy University to the Activity Resource Center for an Atlantic East Conference matchup, but dropped a straight-set decision, 25-9, 25-22, 25-19.
Dziadzio led the Cannoneers (6-14, 1-3) matching her career high of nine kills while also bringing up eight digs with two aces. Kelsy Padilla put down seven kills while hitting .278 on the night. Emily Sontag dished out 20 assists with two kills and two blocks and sister Alison Sontag brought up a match-high 14 digs with a pair of kills.
Pratt made a late charge in the second stanza shrinking an 11-point deficit at 22-11, and erasing seven straight set points on Dziadzio's serve to pull within two, 24-22, before the Griffins (15-9, 2-2) held on for a two-set lead and controlled much of the third set on the strength of .345 hitting.
The Cannoneers will close out their final two matches of the regular season on the road and travel to Marywood University on Saturday, November 2 for their penultimate match. First serve is at noon.
