NEW YORK — Despite finding themselves tied at 22-all in the second and third sets, the Pratt Institute women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to John Jay College in a non-conference match on Thursday evening.

The Cannoneers (4-9) were led by six kills each from Colleen Russell and Natalie Dzadzio, Russell also bringing up a match-high 11 digs with three blocks. Kelsy Padilla put down four error-free kills to hit .400 on the evening with an ace and four digs.

After John Jay (10-4) ran away with the opening set, 25-7, Pratt trailed 5-1 to open the second but used a 7-2 run to take their first lead. After a 16-all deadlock, the set saw six more ties and neither team ahead by more than one, before the Bloodhounds won the final three points to take the set, 25-22.

In the third, Pratt wiped out a nine-point deficit at the 18-9 mark with a 10-1 run to pull even at 19-all and later took the lead at 22-21, but couldn't keep the momentum going as the hosts closed out the match on a 4-1 run taking the set, 25-23.

Pratt hosts Lehman College on Monday, October 7 at The Hill Center in a non-conference match starting at 7 p.m.
