PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. — The Pratt Institute men's basketball team fell 67-59 on the road to the University of Valley Forge in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Mekhi Davis led the Cannoneers (0-6) with 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Ace Bibbs followed with 10 points, three rebounds and two assists. Quinn McCormick and Justin Caver added nine points apiece, McCormick also grabbing eight board and Caver nabbing seven. Matias Alkemade chipped in five points, also seizing eight rebounds and rejecting four shots.
Caver scored five points in the first five minutes to give Pratt an early 7-3 lead and they led for nearly the entire first half. A 11-3 run later in the period capped by triples from Cameron Windt and Sebastian Roda pushed the cushion to 10 and the black-and-gold carried a 30-23 lead into the lockers.
Pratt was unable to pull away in the second as the hosts nearly doubled their connect rate in the second half and shot nearly 50 percent. With the Cannoneers clinging to a 36-34 lead at 14:39, the Patriots used an 11-0 run over two minutes to move ahead, 45-36. Pratt pulled within three points on several occasions but couldn't close the gap.
Valley Forge (3-5) was led by William Lawder's 13 points off the bench.
Pratt returns to the hardwood on Tuesday, November 26 to face John Jay College. Tip-off from Manhattan is set for 8 p.m.
