Caver’s 20 Leads Three in Double Figures For Men’s Basketball at John Jay

NEW YORK — Justin Caver scored a game-high-tying 20 points in a losing effort for the Pratt Institute men's basketball team on the road against John Jay College , 88-70, on Tuesday evening.

Caver shot 7-of-14 from the field with two three-pointers, six rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block in an all-around effort. Ace Bibbs followed with 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting and rejected a game-high three shots with three assists and two rebounds. Mekhi Davis rounded out the three Cannoneer double-figure scorers with 11 points, three assists, two rebounds, three assists and one block. Thomas Graetz chipped in seven off the bench with three boards.

John Jay (5-2) opened on a 10-2 run and Pratt (0-7) couldn't reel them back in. The Bloodhounds pulled away to a 10-point lead and a triple from Caver followed by a Bibbs layup cut the deficit to four, 32-28, before John Jay extended to a 47-36 lead headed into the lockers.

Pratt opened the seconds stanza on a 9-0 run powered by five points from Davis and buckets from Caver and Bibbs to pull within two, 47-45. But John Jay pulled away again and the lead hovered between two to three possessions before breaking the game open with a 12-0 spurt.

Keyshawn Miller paced the Bloodhounds and shared game-high honors with Caver with 20 points.

Pratt returns to the hardwood after the Thanksgiving break traveling to Brooklyn foes Medgar Evers College on Monday, December 2 for a non-conference road test starting at 7 p.m.
