PURCHASE, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute men's volleyball opened their 2024 campaign with a 3-0 defeat on the road to Manhattanville College on Wednesday evening.
Jason Raymond and Max Wang led the attack with three kills apiece with an ace. Wang also brought up a team-high-tying five digs. Devaun Longley added a kill, four digs and two blocks. Brooks Reid dished out seven assists with an ace, five digs and two blocks.
Pratt (0-1) played a hard-fought opening set with seven ties and two lead changes. The Cannoneers held as much as a two-point lead early in the frame, but never trailed by more than three. After a Wang ace leveled the set at 21-all, the Valiants (1-2) closed out the set on a 4-0 run. Manhattanville won the final two sets by 25-13 margins.
Joe Gandarillas led the Valiants with nine kills and six aces. Wilton Martinez and Emil Morban Medrano added six kills each as seven different Valiants recorded a kill.
Pratt returns home to host York College in their home opener at the ARC on Thursday, February 1 at 7 p.m.
