SCRANTON, Pa. — Cameron Windt led the Pratt Insitute men's basketball team with 16 points and nine different Cannoneers scored a field goal but Marywood University drained 18 three-pointers on their home floor and came away with a 96-74 non-conference win on Saturday afternoon in a matchup of future Atlantic East Conference foes.
Windt shot 6-of-14 from the floor and 3-for-3 from the line with two rebounds and three assists. Jaden Young chipped in 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting with two triples, four boards and two assists. Patrick O'Gorman netted nine points with five helpers and two caroms.
Lucas Zamboni contributed a season-high eight points in 10 minutes of action off the bench connecting on all three of his attempts with two triples. Seth Bratcher and Quinn McCormick added seven points and four caroms each. Thomas Van Trier matched game highs of eight rebounds and six assists while adding three points.
The Cannoneers (7-13) scored the game's first five points for an early lead but the Pacers used a barrage of 13 first-half three-pointers to negate Pratt's 53 percent shooting (16-of-30) in the half. The black-and-gold shrank a nine-point deficit down to four before a 5-0 spurt sent Marywood into the lockers leading 49-40.
The Pacers (10-11) briefly extended their lead to 13 early in the second stanza before the Cannoneers assembled a 15-6 run to pull within four, 61-57, with 13:35 to go. Pratt managed to keep it a single-digit ball game, but the Pacers pulled away over the final seven minutes.
Pratt finished shooting at a 51 percent clip (30-of-59) but Marywood attempted 22 more shots, made 15 more three-pointers (18 to 3) and committed only three turnovers for the contest. The Pacers also hit on all 12 of their free throw attempts in the game that saw only 19 combined fouls whistled.
Andrew Quinn led all scorers with 23 points off the bench in 14 minutes draining seven treys. Mason Mendygral added 15 points and Brendan Franko chipped in 14 also off the bench as the Pacers bench accounted for 82 points.
Pratt continues north for their weekend road trip and faces SUNY Delhi tomorrow at 2 p.m.
