FLUSHING, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute women's tennis team wrapped up a perfect regular season with a 9-0 triumph over Manhattanville University on Saturday afternoon at the USTA National Tennis Center.
The Cannoneers (11-0) celebrated their lone senior Nastazja Cancellaro prior to the match and Cancellaro turned in a straight-set, 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles in her lone match of the day.
Pallavi Verghese remained perfect in dual match play securing an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles with Beatrice Crespo and turning in an 8-1 win at No. 1 singles. Crespo also won her match at No. 2 singles by an 8-1 margin.
Ariana Castro cruised in her No. 4 singles match, 8-0 while Shrishti Agarwal prevailed 8-6 in the No. 4 spot. The duo outlasted their opponents at No. 2 doubles in a tiebreak, 8-7 (8).
Pratt took the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles matches by default.
Manhattanville (8-4) won the Skyline Conference championship in the fall and will play in the NCAA Division III Championship in a few weeks.
The Cannoneers will head to Fredericksburg, Virginia for the Coast-to-Coast Conference Championships beginning May 3 at the University of Mary Washington. Seeding for the tournament and Pratt's quarterfinal opponent will be announced.
