JAMAICA, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute men's tennis team took a comfortable 9-0 victory over York College (NY). Improving to 7-5 overall, the Cannoneers match their most wins in a season last reached in 2013.
Caleb Callahan led the lineup and dropped just one game in his No. 1 singles match, 6-1, 6-0, and teamed up with Johnny Xie for an 8-2 win in the lead doubles match. Xie was victorious 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
Shrenik Mahaveer downed his No. 2 singles opponent at love, 6-0, 6-0 while Brian Duval dropped just a pair of games in a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 4 singles. Mahaveer and Duval combined for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles in the closest match of the session.
Saddqa Bahidrah and Thomas Klebe were victorious 8-0 at No. 3 doubles. Bahidrah went on to take a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles while Klebe notched a 7-5, 6-4 win in the No. 6 spot.
Xie, Bahidrah, Duval and Klebe all picked up their first singles wins of the season in their first attempts.
Pratt wraps up the regular season traveling to Purchase College for an 11 a.m. showdown on Saturday, April 27.
