BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute women's soccer team took a comfortable 7-0 victory over St. Joseph's University (Brooklyn) on Friday afternoon in both teams' 2024 opener.
Rookie Kate Nolan wasted no time scoring just eight minutes into their collegiate debut. Kat Thomsen followed with a direct kick goal two minutes later and Emma Pratt buried a high shot from outside the box in the 12th minute for a quick 3-0 lead over their Clinton Hill rivals. Siena Sujitno finished a nice feed from Anna Crawford as Pratt (1-0) saw four different Cannoneers find the back of the net by the 22-minute mark.
With less than five minutes before the intermission, the black-and-gold collected a pair of braces with Thomsen scoring in the 41st minute and Nolan converting on a penalty in the 44th to take a 6-0 lead into the lockers.
Rookie Claire Hook scored her first collegiate goal in the 66th minute for the lone tally of the second 45 and the final 7-0 deficit.
Pratt controlled the contest throughout, maintaining a 38-1 shot advantage. Emma Gaspari and Savannah DePaz combined for the clean sheet in goal, with DePaz stopping the lone shot on net in her collegiate debut.
The Cannoneers travel to the Garden State to face Ramapo College for a Labor Day tilt on Monday, kicking off at 6:30 p.m.
