Women’s Volleyball Outlasts CCNY

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute women's volleyball team rallied from a five-set defeat two days ago, rallying past The City College of New York in five sets at home on Thursday evening at The Hill Center.

Pratt (2-4) overcame a 2-sets-to-1 set deficit and received a pair of double-double efforts to remain unbeaten at The HIll Center winning by set scores 18-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 15-4.

Colleen Russell put down a match-high 13 kills with 16 digs, four blocks (three solo) and two aces. Kelsy Padilla also reached double-digit kills with 11 falling one dig shy of a double-double with nine.

Emily Sontag registered career-highs of 32 assists and 22 digs, paired with four aces. Natalie Dziadzio fell one kill shy of a doubke-double with nine kills and 13 digs. Emma Leavey led three Cannoneers with double-digit digs with 22 and three aces.

The highly contested affair featured 22 ties and 13 lead changes and sets two, three and four decided by three or fewer points.

The black-and-gold raced out to a 5-0 lead in the fifth-and-deciding set and never trailed hitting .274 in the frame while holding CCNY to a match-worst -.294 hitting with one kill.

Pratt returns to The Hill Center on Saturday, September 21 as a road team in the Battle of Brooklyn tri-match with St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn and Brooklyn College starting at 11 a.m.
