ABINGTON, Pa. — Emma Pratt scored a second-half equalizer but the Pratt Institute women's soccer team fell on the wrong end of a 2-1 result as Penn State Abington scored the go-ahead goal in the 80th minute.
The Nittany Lions (1-2) jumped to an early lead on Nayeska Ravelo's tally in the 4th minute that stood as the lone goal of the first half with Pratt outshooting Penn State, 7-3.
Emma Pratt's second goal of the season in the 65th minute knotted the match at 1-1 and the Cannoneers (1-2) continued to apply pressure outshooting the hosts 5-1 over the next 15 minutes before Amanda Armstrong broke the deadlock, putting Penn State up for good with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation.
The Cannoneers finished with a 17-8 edge in shots while the Nittany Lions held a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal and 6-2 in corner kicks.
Emma Pratt accounted for five Pratt shots with Claire Hook and Siena Sujitno firing three apiece and Kate Nolan and Kat Thomsen chipping in two each. Emma Gaspari made four saves in goal.
Pratt hosts SUNY Old Westbury on Tuesday, September 10 for their home opener at Randall's Island Field 10 kicking off at 2 p.m.
