BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Thomas Graetz scored a game-high 18 points and Hursh Mehta added 11 as the Pratt Institute men's basketball was unable to hand first-place Marymount University their first conference defeat in a 93-54 home loss at the Activity Resource Center on Saturday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action.
The Cannoneers (0-17, 0-5) shot 57 percent in the opening 20 minutes led Graetz's 13 points to hang with the league leaders and trail by five heading into the lockers. The Saints (12-6, 6-0) were the hot shooting team of the second half, connecting on 56 percent, including nine three-pointers, to stretch their lead to double digits five minutes in and maintained a comfortable margin.
Graetz shot 6-of-11 from the field and dished out three assists and had two rebounds and two blocks in his best outing of the season. Hursh drained 2-of-4 from three-point land and shot 4-of-7 to reach double figures for the first time in his collegiate career. Quinn McCormick and Mekhi Davis added seven points and three boards apiece.
Max Pearcy led three Saints in double figures with 15 points and Miles Phillips added 12 points as 11 different players recorded a field goal and combined to shoot 51 percent with 14 three-pointers.
Pratt concludes the first half of their home-and-home conference slate welcoming Gwynedd Mercy University to the ARC on Tuesday, January 28 for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
