BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Thomas Graetz led the team in scoring for third straight game as the Pratt Institute men's basketball team suffered a 79-60 Atlantic East Conference defeat to Gwynedd Mercy University on Tuesday evening at the Activity Resource Center.
Graetz finished with 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting, with five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Cameron Windt added 11 points while dishing out a career-high eight assists with four rebounds. Lucas Zamboni drained 3-of-5 from three-point land for a season-high nine points. Matias Alkemade had seven points, eight boards and two steals.
The Griffins (16-3, 4-2) never trailed in the contest but Pratt (0-18, 0-6) battled throughout. Gwynedd built a 12-point advantage in the first before a 9-2 run powered by five quick points by Graetz trimmed the deficit to five. The visitors scored two baskets just before the intermission to take a 39-30 lead into the lockers and Pratt couldn't regain their momentum in the second half.
Aquil Stewart led all scorers with 23 points and six steals. Mike Marable added 15 points, five rebounds and four assists as Gwynedd moved into solo third with the victory.
Both squads will meet again this Saturday, February 1 to kick off the second half of the conference slate. Tip-off in in Gwynedd Valley, Pa. is at 3 p.m.
