ASTON, Pa. — Chloe Tien (Broomfield, Colo.) and Alyssa Trujillo (Morrison, Colo.) found the back of the net, but the Pratt Institute women's soccer team fell 3-2 at Neumann Univeristy on Saturday in Atlantic East play.
First-year Tien put Pratt in front in the 3rd minute with her 10th goal of the season. The black-and-gold carried that lead for most of the first half before the Knights pulled level in the 38th minute and nudged ahead in the 41st.
The Cannoneers answered right after the break. Sophomore Trujillo tied it in the 46th minute, finishing a service from sophomore Kate Nolan (Perth, Australia) for her seventh of the year.
Neumann regained the advantage in the 61st minute and held on through the final whistle.
Junior Emma Pratt (North Attleboro, Mass.) paced the attack with six shots, forcing late saves and helping generate corners in the 79th and 88th minutes as Pratt pressed for another equalizer. Nolan added two shots to go with her assist, while Tien closed with two attempts and the early strike. Senior Kat Thomsen (Palo Alto, Calif.) took two shots, and sophomore Claire Hook (Portsmouth, R.I.) logged heavy minutes up top.
Senior goalkeeper Emma Gaspari (Naperville, Ill.) and junior goalkeeper Savannah Depaz (Chapel Hill, N.C.) combined for nine saves, including a pair from Depaz during a busy spell early in the second half.
Neumann was led by Kyleigh Joniec (two goals) and Liz Purcell (one goal, one assist). Goalkeeper Shannon Duffy made three saves.
Pratt finished with 13 shots (five on goal) to Neumann's 17 (13 on goal). The Cannoneers move to 5-4-2 overall and 1-2 in the Atlantic East.
Up next, Pratt returns home and celebrates Senior Day hosting Immaculata University on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 1:45 p.m. at Randall's Island Field 10.
