QUEENS, N.Y. — Jefferson Lopez Coreas tallied a hat trick and added two assists to power Marymount University past the Pratt Institute men's soccer team, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon at Queens College in the Atlantic East Conference 2025 opener.
Pratt (0-8-1, 0-1 AEC) managed six total shots—three of them on target—but could not overcome a relentless Saints side—picked second in the preseason coaches' poll—that posted 30 shots and 11 corner kicks in a comprehensive road performance.
Senior goalkeeper Dimitris Papagiannakopoulos (Athens, Greece) made five saves over 33 minutes in the first half before being replaced by classmate Anil Pugh (Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago), who had four stops in the second half.
Alex Abbruzzese (Boulder, Colo.), Alexander Litzenberger (Ardsley, N.Y.), and Yuming Liang (Beijing, China) each registered a shot on goal for the Cannoneers.
Marymount opened the scoring in the eighth minute and netted four goals in the first half—including two by Lopez Coreas—to take firm control. The Pratt defense kept the Saints off the board before a fifth goal in the 72nd minute completed the hat trick for Lopez Coreas and Christian Martinez Ortiz added the final tally in the 82nd minute.
Pratt will look to rebound when it visits Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
