Men’s Soccer Comes Up Empty in Atlantic East Road Test at Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. — Despite firing off a season-high 23 total shots, the Pratt Institute men's soccer team was held scoreless on the road in a 2-0 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) loss to Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday night.

Junior forward Dylan Costa (Cresskill, N.J.) was a constant attacking threat for Pratt, tallying a game-high 11 shots, including four on target. Sophomore midfielder Caleb Alvarrcin (Floral Park, N.Y.) added two shots on goal as the Cannoneers created several quality chances but were unable to break through.

The host Griffins opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Braedon Kehan beat the keeper off a long setup from Luke O'Donnell. It remained a one-goal affair until the 71st minute when Gwynedd Mercy added an insurance goal after Jackson Stuetz flicked a header past the keeper on a well-placed delivery from Adam Leal.

Pratt goalkeepers Dimitris Papagiannakopoulos (Athens, Greece) and Anil Pugh (Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago) split time in net and combined for nine saves.

With the result, Pratt falls to 0-9-1 overall and 0-2 in Atlantic East play. Gwynedd Mercy improves to 5-7 and picks up its first league win this season.

The Cannoneers will look to bounce back when they return home for more league action Saturday night, hosting Neumann University at Randall's Island Field 10. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
