ARLINGTON, Va. – Kate Nolan (Perth, Australia) found the back of the net early, but the Pratt Institute women's soccer team saw its five-game unbeaten streak come to an end with a 3–1 defeat at Marymount University on Saturday afternoon in its Atlantic East Conference opener.
The Cannoneers struck first in the 15th minute when Nolan buried a shot for her sixth goal of the season, giving Pratt (4-3-2, 0-1 AEC) an early lead.
Marymount (4-6-2, 1-0 AEC) wasted little time responding. The Saints equalized less than five minutes later through Hannah Driscoll, before adding goals from Arianna Garcia in the 25th minute and Olivia Krowicki in the 31st minute, putting the black-and-gold at a 3-1 disadvantage.
In goal, Emma Gaspari made three saves in the opening 45 minutes before Savannah DePaz came on for the second half, registering six saves to keep the hosts off the board after halftime. Marymount finished with a 22-3 edge in shots and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Emma Pratt added two shots for the Cannoneers, who were held without a shot after intermission.
The loss marks the first for Pratt since Sept. 13 in a 2-1 defeat at Penn State Brandywine. The team returns to the pitch on Wednesday, October 8, to host Gwynedd Mercy University in an Atlantic East contest at Randall's Island Field 70, kicking off at 7 p.m.
