NEW YORK — Emma Pratt (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Kat Thomsen (Palo Alto, Calif.) each scored twice to lead the Pratt Institute women's soccer team to a commanding 5–0 win over Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday night in Atlantic East Conference action at Randall's Island.
The victory marked the team's first shutout in conference play since joining the Atlantic East in 2024 and the program's largest margin of victory in a league fixture. It also represented Pratt's sixth clean sheet of the 2025 season.
Pratt opened the scoring in the 11th minute, making a solo run from midfield before lifting a shot from the edge of the box over the keeper and under the bar. She added an assist in the 32nd minute, threading a pass to forward Kate Nolan (Perth, Australia), who buried her third goal of the season to give the Cannoneers a 2–0 halftime lead.
Thomsen extended the lead in the 53rd minute when she finished from close range after a feed from Alyssa Trujillo (Morrison, Colo.). Just nine minutes later, Pratt intercepted a pass from the goalkeeper and launched a long-range strike from over 30 yards, tucking her second goal of the night just under the bar. Thomsen capped the scoring in the 63rd with her second of the match, assisted by Chloe Tien (Broomfield, Colo.).
The total team effort contributed to the shutout with goalkeepers Emma Gaspari (Naperville, Ill.) and Savannah Depaz (Chapel Hill, N.C.) each playing one half in goal and combined for four saves to earn credit for the clean sheet.
Pratt (5–3–2, 1–1 AEC) outshot Gwynedd Mercy 18–11, with a 14–4 edge in shots on goal.
The Cannoneers continue Atlantic East play this Saturday, Oct. 11, with a road trip to Neumann University kicking off at 4 p.m.
