BRONX, N.Y. — Powered by double-digit kills from sophomore Kelsy Padilla (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and a well-rounded team effort, the Pratt Institute women's volleyball team secured its first win of the 2025 season Monday night with a dominant 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-19) sweep over Lehman College at The APEX.
Padilla racked up a match-high 10 kills along with three service aces and three digs to lead the Cannoneers (1-10), who rebounded from a tough opening stretch of the season to deliver their most complete performance yet.
Junior middle hitter Colleen Russell (Asbury, N.J.) added eight kills and six digs, hitting .250, while first-year setter Eden Shih (Manhattan, N.Y.) guided the offense with 12 assists and chipped in two aces and two kills. First-year libero Gabriella Prieto (Amityville, N.Y.) anchored the defense with a team-high seven digs and two service aces.
Pratt recorded 13 service aces and held Lehman (2-10) to a -.076 hitting percentage as a team. Junior Anabela Jakelic (Zagreb, Croatia) posted an efficient six kills on .385 hitting with a solo block and a block assist, while first-year opposite hitter Maggie Hughes (Knoxville, Tenn.) recorded six kills and four reception attempts without an error.
Supporting the attack, first-year setter Kathryn Quintiliano (Manassas, Va.) dished out 10 assists and delivered three service aces.
A back-and-forth opening set saw six ties and three lead changes before a 5-0 run late powered by two Padilla aces put the Cannoneers in control. The black-and-gold never jumped out to early leads and never trailed in the final two frames to close out the win.
Pratt returns home to host Baruch College on Thursday, October 9 in their final tune up before opening Atlantic East Conference play this weekend. First serve is at 7 p.m.
