Women’s Tennis Rolls Past Neumann in Atlantic East Opener

FLUSHING, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute women's tennis team took a convincing 7-0 victory over Neumann University in their inaugural Atlantic East Conference match and their first match of 2025 on Saturday afternoon at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Pratt (8-2, 1-0) won the two lead doubles matches at love – Kayla Abraham and Pallavi Verghese at No. 1 and Beatrice Crespo and Alice Li at No. 2 – to clinch the doubles point. Victoria Delgado and Julia Ognibene turned in a 6-3 win at No. 3 to sweep the session.

The Cannoneers continued to cruise at singles as the yellow-and-gold didn't surrender more than one game in any set. Abraham won 6-0, 6-1 at in the lead match and Pallavi prevailed 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 position.

Crespo turned in a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 3 with Ognibene and Delgado winning at love in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots. Li scored a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles.

Neumann fell to 2-6 and 0-1 in league play in defeat.

Pratt travels to Virginia to face defending league champions Marymount University on Saturday, March 29 for a noon showdown.
