FLUSHING, N.Y. — Pratt Institute women's tennis remained undefeated in Atlantic East Conference play with a decisive 7-0 sweep over Immaculata University on Sunday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
With the victory, Pratt improved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 against conference opponents. Immaculata dropped to 2-8 overall and 0-3 in league play.
Pratt controlled the match from the outset, claiming all three doubles contests to establish early momentum. The top doubles team of Kayla Abraham and Pallavi Verghese earned a comfortable 6-2 victory. At No. 2 doubles, Beatrice Crespo and Alice Li secured a 6-4 win, while at No. 3 doubles, Julia Ognibene and Victoria Delgado posted a strong 6-3 triumph.
The Cannoneers continued their strong play in singles competition, capturing all matches in straight sets. Abraham won convincingly in the top singles match, 6-2, 6-4. At No. 2 singles, Verghese dominated with a 6-1, 6-1 decision, while Crespo at No. 3 singles cruised to a flawless 6-0, 6-0 finish.
At No. 4 singles, Ognibene faced a challenge late before prevailing in a tight battle 6-3, 7-6 (10-3). Delgado eased through No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Li capped the sweep at No. 6 singles with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Winners of four straight, Pratt will look to wrap up an unblemished league schedule heading to Marywood University on Thursday, April 17th for a 3:30 p.m. match.
