PURCHASE, N.Y. — After over a week layoff due to cancellations caused by last weekend's storm, the Pratt Institute women's soccer team secured a comfortable 4-0 win over Purchase College in a non-conference road matchup on Thursday evening.
Four different Cannoneers (1-1) found the back of the net in the victory while maintaining a dominant 26-3 shot discrepancy for the contest.
Josey Kanach opened the scoring with her first collegiate goal, finishing a feed from Kat Thomsen in the 21st minute and Pratt took a 1-0 lead into intermission.
It still remained a one-goal affair with 18 minutes in regulation before Kate Nolan found the back of the net for their first goal of the season, kicking off a stretch of three Cannoneer goals in a span of less than 10 minutes. Nolan later fed rookie Chloe Tien for her first collegiate goal in the 79th minute and Thomsen struck unassisted three minutes later for her first of the season.
The Cannoneer back line helped prevent no Purchase (0-2) shots from finding their target and Emma Gaspari and Savannah DePaz collected the combined shutout in goal
In a late addition to the schedule, Pratt heads to Penn State Brandywine on Saturday, September 13 for a 3 p.m. showdown seeking their second straight win.
