MEDIA, Pa. — The Pratt Institute women's soccer team managed to erase an early deficit but fell victim to a goal in the 81st minute in a 2-1 defeat on the road to Penn State Brandywine on Saturday afternoon.
The Cannoneers (1-2) surrendered an own goal in the 28th minute to give the Lions a 1-0 lead that stood until intermission. Alyssa Trujillo found Chloe Tien less than two minutes into the second stanza to level the match at 1-all – Tien's second goal of her rookie campaign.
After finding the equalizer, Pratt continued to apply the pressure but it was the hosts that broke through with less than 10 minutes in regulation, Emma Kearns scoring the game-winner for the Lions.
Nearly half the Cannoneer shots found their mark, finishing with a 12-5 shots on goal edge and the Lions keeper finishing with 11 saves. Pratt also maintained a 6-0 advantage in corners for the contest.
Pratt plays their next two matches at home this week, hosting Clinton Hill neighborhood rivals St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn on Tuesday, September 16 for a 7 p.m. affair at Randall's Island Field 10.
