FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The Pratt Instititute women's tennis team opened their 2025-26 campaign with a 7-0 shutout of Farmingdale State College in a non-conference road match on Saturday.
Pallavi Verghese led the Cannoneer lineup and collected a hard-fought win in the lead singles match winning in a third-set supertiebreaker, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7). Beatrice Crespo dropped just one game in her singles match in the No. 2 position, 6-0, 6-1. Both teamed up for a 6-3 victory in the top doubles match.
Srishti Agarwal scored a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles while Judith Song triumphed 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 4 spot. Agarwal and Song posted a 6-3 win at No. 2 pairs to clinch the doubles point.
Satoka Shibasaki also prevailed in a close match that went to three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) that secured a sweep of the singles session. Olivia Tao surrendered two games in a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
Farmingdale (1-3) took the No. 3 doubles match for their lone victory of the afternoon.
Pratt hosts Bard College in their home opener at the USTA National Center on Sunday, September 21 starting at 1 p.m.
