JAMAICA, N.Y. — First-year standout Chloe Tien and sophomore forward Claire Hook each tallied their first collegiate hat tricks to lead the Pratt Institute women's soccer team to a commanding 9-0 victory over York College on Monday afternoon at the York College Outdoor Athletic Complex.
The Cannoneers (3-2-1) burst out of the gate with a relentless attack, scoring all nine goals in the first half and dominating possession from start to finish. Tien struck for three goals in the opening 15 minutes, while Hook completed her hat trick with goals in the 29th, 31st, and 37th minutes.
Sophomore Kate Nolan added a goal and a game-high four assists in the win, while junior Emma Pratt and sophomore Alyssa Trujillo each contributed a goal. Nolan set the tone offensively, assisting on four of Pratt's first five goals, including two of Tien's strikes.
Pratt outshot York 43-1, placing 26 shots on target to York's none, and held 70 percent of the match's possession. The Cannoneers also held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior goalkeeper Emma Gaspari earned the victory without facing a shot in the first half, while junior Savannah Depaz closed out the clean sheet.
The Cannoneers return to action Saturday and look to remain above .500 when they host the City College of New York at Aviator Sports & Events Center in Brooklyn, kicking off at 1:15 p.m.
