Women’s Soccer Settles for Stalemate With CCNY

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Despite dominating possession and peppering the goal with 23 shots, the Pratt Institute women's soccer team was forced to settle for a 0-0 draw with the City College of New York on Saturday afternoon at Aviator Sports Center.

Pratt (3-2-2) controlled much of the match, outshooting CCNY 23–1, including a 14–0 advantage in shots on target. Junior Emma Pratt and forward Kate Nolan led the Cannoneers' offensive charge, combining for 11 of the team's 23 attempts. However, Beavers goalkeeper Laila Issa proved nearly impenetrable, recording 14 saves to keep the match scoreless.

The Cannoneers applied relentless pressure throughout, compiling six corner kicks to CCNY's none, but couldn't break through. In the late moments, Pratt nearly found the winner, with a late flurry in front of the Beaver goal, forcing back-to-back stops from Issa in the 89th minute.

Defensively, the hosts were rarely tested. Senior keeper Emma Gaspari earned a clean sheet without recording an official save, with the lone CCNY shot missing the target.

The result marks Pratt's second draw of the season and extends their unbeaten streak to four matches. They'll return to action Tuesday, Sept. 30 when they travel to Lehman College for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
