Women’s Volleyball Drops Road Match to Brooklyn College

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Junior Colleen Russell (Asbury, N.J.) delivered eight kills and 14 digs, but the Pratt Institute women's volleyball team was swept by Brooklyn College in straight sets (25–16, 25–21, 25–14) Tuesday evening at the West Quad Center.

Russell paced the Cannoneers with a team-best 10.0 points, while sophomore outside hitter Kelsy Padilla (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added five kills and six digs.

First-year middle hitter Joanna Doyle (Warren, N.H.) chipped in with four kills and two block assists, while libero Gabriella Prieto (Amityville, N.Y.) posted five digs as part of a solid defensive effort against CUNYAC foe Brooklyn (7–6).

Despite improved offensive efficiency in the second set — with Pratt posting a .135 attack percentage — the Cannoneers (0–10) struggled for consistency. Brooklyn opened and closed with strong service and finished the night with 13 aces, including five from Amra Mulic. Pratt countered with four aces of its own, including two by setter Kathryn Quintiliano (Manassas, Va.), who also contributed eight assists and four digs.

First-year Eden Shih (Manhattan, N.Y.) led Pratt with nine assists for the match, combining with Quintiliano to spread the offense across multiple attackers, including first-year outside hitter Jamie Shoemake (La Crescenta, Calif.) who posted five kills and seven digs.

The Cannoneers will aim to regroup ahead of next week's non-conference matchup at Lehman College on Monday, October 6. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in the Bronx.
